BOHO FOLIES

In the 1920’s & 30’s the costume designer Erté created a series of unimaginably delicious looks for the performers at The Folies Bergère in Paris. Surreal expressions of feminine beauty that are comic in their theatricality and yet spellbindingly beautiful, timeless and arresting. In my eyes a handful of looks from the fall 99 collection by Galliano for Dior act as a sister or counterpart to Erté's earlier imaginings. The bohemian and yet glamorous aesthetic from both bodies of work are the key inspiration for my boho folies jewels.
